We have installed a D-110P E1 card on an Asterisk server and for some reason, we have tried everything but cannot get it to work properly. The problem is that the D-Channel does not come up. We are attempting to use asterisk as an E1 voip gateway, which connects to a passive (no voip card) 2N Stargate GSM Gateway (channel bank). The GSM gateway has a PRI port which we have connected to the D110P card using a Crossover E1 cable. (We go not sync at all on Layers 1 & 2 with a straight cable).
Currently, the card is showing a green light, and both Layer 1 & Layer 2 are up but the D-Channel Does not come up.
Our current settings are:
On Stargate GSM Gateway:
PRI 1 Port type: NT,
Sync: Master
Channel number select: upwards
Preffered channel: 0
TEI: 0
CRC: off
On OpenVOX part:
PRI port type: TE
CRC: off (also tried this with both GSM GW and Digium set to on but didnt work)
Framing: CCS
Coding: HDB8
In diagnostic window we have:
Board type: PRI130 Status: OK
Layer 1: Active Layer 2: OKEST Layer 3: Null
Mode: NT/M
hello, NewWay:
i think your config files are ok. please double check the physical connection. i think somewhere is wrong with connection. originally, we provide BNC RJ45 connector. the message from asterisk console shows that the line still down.

Thanks for the reply. We have checked & double-checked the connection and it appears to be fine. Like I mentioned, booth sides (including the GSM Gateway) are registering the physical E1 connection - which wouldn't be the case if it was a physical connection issue. Could it be due to something else?
I am quite happy to give you ssh access so that you may have a look.
