Have connected Openvox GSM gateway to FreePBX through trunked IAX2.
It good to use best codec for voice translation, because VS-GWM400W have an WCDMA AMR WB (wideband) and using G711 (or other narrowband codecs, with lower bitrate) will limit voice quality on connection between GSM gateway and FreePBX.
Are Openvox use 722.2 (WB) codec, or it is legacy 722? Will there be an better codecs in the future (OPUS, for example)?
Seems that in VS-GWM400 native codec is ulaw and even if set it in web GUI to g722 it will transcode in OpenVox hardware from ulaw to g722, there is no quality benefits, because source codec is ulaw.
I don't know how about VS-GWM400W, is there same native codec ulaw?
