14 years 1 month ago #5050 by jsjc
Hello I am a newbie on this things and after getting channels configured in asterisk when I lift a handset connected to my FXO port there is line but lot of noise as well.

I been checking Troubelshooting Q61 but is hard to understand...

Is there a more newbie friendly version of troubelshooting??

Thanks in advance!

Hi jsjc:
1) Check the IRQ, make sure system handle IRQ properly
you can ran this command to check it : cat /proc/interrupt
2) Use zttest to check the result
if you use dahdi , ran the command: dahdi_test
if you use zaptel , ran the command: zttest
make suer the result is higher than 99.98%
3) Disable the X window and framebuffer(set vga=normal from grub)
ran the command: vi /etc/grub.conf
add the line on the kernel line: vga=normal
the points 4,5,6, you can do as the examlpls on the Troubelshooting Q61
you also can refer this: http://downloads.openvox.cn/pub/misc/A800P-A1200P_FAQ(English).pdf

Hello,
what are your software environments? If you pay more attentions to this BBS, you can get many helps which match with your case(noise issues).
Anyway, if you do have this issues, maybe the following places you should note.
1. country format( /etc/dahdi/system.conf, the parameters defaultzone and loadzone) if you use zaptel driver, then you have to replace /etc/dahdi/system.conf by /etc/zaptel.conf .Another parameter in /etc/asterisk/indication.conf names country also should be set to your country format.
2. the interrupts of the card. Make sure A1200P has its own interrupt. Execute command(cat /proc/interrupts) to scan it.
3. execute zttest or dahdi_test and post its result here!

any question,please let me know!

Hello,
I found out that the card is sharing IRQ with usb port.
As well the dahdi_test gives numbers lower than needed.
My system is ubuntu, asterisk 1.6.2.6.

I will move the pci card to the other slot and see if I am lucky!

Will keep you informed,

Cheers,

Javi

hello:
there is no harm to share an IRQ with inactive USB or you also can disable the USB from BIOS.

Then if there is no harm having same IRQ why there is noise?

I dont know what could be then....

Is there any way to assign different IRQ by software?? ... so I could check if that is the issue.
